Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys has today announced the payment schedule for 10 lump sum payments announced in Budget 2025.

Over €1.4 billion of social protection cost of living s were introduced as part of last week’s budget.

The social protection budget, which the department says is the largest in the history of the State, is designed to assist families, pensioners, carers, and people with disabilities with the cost of living through a mix of lump sum payments, targeted s and increases to weekly payments.

s include:

  • October cost of living double payment – paid out the week commencing October 28
  • Double child benefit – November 5 & December 3 
  •  €400 cost of living payment to those in receipt of Working Family Payment – week commencing November 4 
  • Fuel allowance lump sum of €300 - week commencing November 4 
  • €400 lump sum payment to recipients of Disability Allowance, Blind Pension, Invalidity Pension - week commencing November 4 
  • €200 payment to people in receipt of Living Alone Allowance - week commencing November 11 
  • €400 lump sum payment to recipients of the Carer's Grant - week commencing November 11 
  • Once-off payment of €100 for each child in respect of whom a Child Payment – week commencing November 25 
  •  Christmas bonus double payment – December 2 

 “These payments totalling over €1.4 billion will our pensioners, carers, people with disabilities and families over the coming months,” Ms Humphreys said.

“Budget 2025 represents the largest social protection budget package in the history of the State.

“The blend of lump-sum payments to people over the winter months together with in weekly rates and a range of targeted s is designed to ease the financial pressure facing many households across the State."
