A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a crash in Co Cork.

The man was walking in the townland of Donemark, Bantry when he was hit by a car shortly after 3am on Saturday morning.

The pedestrian in his late 30s has been taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, did not need medical attention.

The road has now reopened and gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
